iCAN utilises a CAN-Bus architecture to reduce both system cabling, complexity and cost, while improving flexibility and reliability. To do this, a basic series of intelligent modules, all under the control of a master module that provides the network logic, are connected to the CAN-Bus backbone (installed by the body builder) which then permit input (control and sensor) devices and output (after-market) devices to be controlled by the vehicle operator.
iCAN's primary benefit is that it allows pre-programmed logic to be applied to the control network to improve safety and efficiency. What makes it unique is that the control logic is easily created and even more easily loaded into the system, using an SD card. This feature means that programs can be updated easily, on any vehicle, simply by adding a new SD card to the Master Control Module. Programmers can even email the new code to a fleet manager or remote depot to download to vehicles in the field or remote locations.
