What makes iLAS unique is that it's the only wirelessly activated, wirelessly networked, scalable system on the Australian market, developed in Australia to meet the needs of Australian educational institutions (schools, universities, TAFEs and private colleges), or any organisation operating within a multi-building environment (warehouses, factories, sports centres, etc). Because it uses emergency services grade sirens, it's a lot louder than a PA (public address) system. In fact, iLAS-N is based on the same siren systems we've supplied for literally thousands of ambulances and fire engines around Australia. It's also more easily and cheaply installed than a cabled system, with siren stations needing only 240VAC power, not complex interconnecting control cable all wired back to a central control panel. This cable-less architecture means it's a completely distributed system, with no central point of failure. In addition, the distributed sirens have battery back-up so they'll operate in a total power black-out. We're even developing a solar powered option for locations where 240V power isn't readily available (such as on playing fields or out-buildings). Once installed, the entire siren network can be activated to deliver the required siren sound from any wireless remote control on that campus. The remotes are compact, able to be carried in a pocket or worn around the neck on a lanyard, and can be distributed with authorised users around the campus. They're security coded so only an authorised, coded remote control can activate a particular network's sirens. To activate the sirens, any properly coded remote is used. This activates the closest siren/s, which in turn activate all other sirens in the network, via the wireless network system built into the siren stations. A feedback system even tells users carrying a remote control that their remote is communicating with the siren network, as an additional positive feedback feature. Even one siren failing won't stop the rest of the network from working. iLAS is not a PA system. It's a siren-based audio alert system that delivers loud, easily distinguishable LOCKDOWN, EVACUATION and ALL CLEAR siren sounds that are different from any other campus warning sounds, such as fire alarms, bells, hooters, etc.
